Stories That Caught My Eye…
Scarlett Johansson accused OpenAI of using her voice for its ChatGPT AI voice named "Sky," despite her refusal to lend her voice to the project. She claims Sam Altman approached her twice, initially declining the offer and later contacting her agent just before the launch of GPT-4. OpenAI denied the accusation, however, after the release of GPT-4o, Altman did tweet "her," referencing the sci-fi romance film where a man falls in love with an AI operating system voiced by Johansson.
1 in 8 adults have taken Ozempic or other GLP-1 weight loss drugs. As demand continues to grow, more brands are entering the space: digital pharmacy startup Hims & Hers Health announced it will offer compounded GLP-1 weight loss injections, and Nestlé said it plans to launch a frozen-food brand, Vital Pursuit, aimed at people taking the weight loss drugs.
Humane, the AI pin startup founded by ex-Apple employees, is seeking a buyer at a $750M-$1B valuation after the poor reception of its $699 AI Pin wearable computer. Despite raising $230M from investors, including OpenAI's Sam Altman, the AI Pin has been criticized for its slow responses, inconsistent software, and poor battery life. The company, valued at $850M in 2023, hopes to address some issues with firmware updates, including integrating OpenAI's GPT-4o model.
