My Startup Ideas from this Week

  • FarrowProblem: when a dog gets loose, it can not be stopped.Solution: a small apparatus that attaches to a dog’s color that inflates and stops the dog from running when triggered remotely from the owner’s app.

  • “Beat Traffic” VC FundProblem: “Defeating traffic is the ultimate boss battle. Even the most powerful humans in the world cannot defeat traffic.” - Elon MuskSolution: a VC fund that strictly backs startups building technologies that are trying to find solutions to traffic, like vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, self-driving technology, and micro-mobility companies.

Ideas I’m Thinking About

  • Let Your Accomplishments Speak for Themselves - leave it private, until it’s permanent. Don’t tell people what you’re doing. Just get it done.

  • A Theory on Fairness - “you should strive to make the world fair for others, but never expect it for yourself.” - Barrett O’Neill

  • You Don’t Dream on a Beach - you don’t dream on a beach; you dream when you’re on the opposite of what you dream of.

  • Don’t Call Someone Socially Award - call them 'a little unrefined socially.’

  • It’s Better to be Known Well, then Well Known - being known by few for something good is better than being known by everyone for something bad.

  • Reading the News - as a rule of thumb, don't consume the news unless you're highly confident it will matter one month from now.

  • Batteries Included v Batteries not Included Framework for Social Energy - people with batteries included come with a built in energy source. They create energy for those around them. People with batteries not included come without a built in energy source. They rely on others to create energy for them. (source: Sahil Bloom)

  • The Cube Rule of Food Identification - is a hotdog a sandwich? Is a salid technically a soup? The Cube Rule of Food is a new way of answering these questions based on the location of the starch (cuberule.com)

Cool Startups I Found

  • WeRoute - an app that pays you to avoid traffic

  • Joro - an app to track, reduce, and offset the emissions of everything you buy. Live lighter.

  • Zevvy - an electric car lease, designed for you.

  • CharterUp - charter A bus in under 60 seconds

  • SunMetalon - created a 3D printer that can produce metal

Cool Websites I Found

Quotes I Came Across

  • “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice”

  • “A recent study found that the average golfer walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found golfers drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year, which means, on average, golfers get about 41 miles to the gallon. Kind of makes you proud. I almost feel like a hybrid.”

  • “If it’s worth it won’t be easy. If it’s easy it won’t be worth it.”

  • “Your standards are contagious. If you only work with ballers with high standards, you adapt. If you tolerate low standards, you adapt. You adapt to whatever you tolerate.” - Chris Hladczuk

  • “Be polite to rude strangers – it’s oddly thrilling.” - Source

  • "Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated." - Confucius
